EMC Applications and Support Engineer

Remote work or relocation will be considered for this position. 

 

The EMC Shop seeks an experienced EMC engineer, capable of taking care of application support items for staff and customers. Staff is trained to support level 1 technical issues but will elevate to this engineer to support, track and report. Recurring issues should have video guides developed to help empower everyone. Order review will be a necessity as well to ensure intercompatibility among parts, connectors, fixtures, etc. Training for the sales team on a regular basis will be done in person and via zoom, covering recurring issues to prevent similar support requests, as well as new developments that could affect testing and our customers.

 

The EMC Applications Engineer will need to be practical and take a common sense approach.. Think from the end, ask early what the end goal is, then determine the best approach. This is a new position at the company to satisfy a hole, training will be limited to our systems, infrastructure and company goals. 



Duties:

  • Prioritize support requests via ticketing system and CRM, respond and set customer expectations

  • Propose training topics and develop compelling, but simple training presentations

  • Generate monthly reports regarding technical issues (Support, Equipment Failure, missing accessories, etc.)

  • Develop/improve processes for streamlining and troubleshooting at the sales or admin level.

  • Manage Special Requests submissions (done via website)

  • Propose research projects

  • Develop white papers for Trade Conference representations

  • Generate videos for applications and equipment demonstrations

  • Perform experiments or tests with General Manager, customers and industry professionals. Example, correlate test data from chamber to tent for emissions. Determine max field strength levels using different combinations and multiples of amplifiers and antennas (techniques for multi-tone testing as well)

  • Organize internal resources on company cloud and develop simple methods for novices to find the needed information.

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of IEC, ANSI and ISO standards. 

  • General understanding MIL, DO-160 and other common test standards.

  • Explain common EMC test setups off the tip your head in Layman's terms

  • Ability to be proactive and work independently

  • Familiarity with calibration, ISO 17025 and antenna factors.

  • Familiarity with field strength calculations

  • Familiarity with Amplifier Research, Rohde & Schwarz, ETS-Lingren, Keysight and other common test equipment used in EMC labs.

  • Familiarity with Tile, EMC Ware or other EMC software

  • Strong communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills.

  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office(Word & Excel), Internet research, data entry, etc.

  • Experience in interacting with customers in a courteous and professional manner and providing an excellent customer experience.

  • Military training or experience (PMEL OR TMDE OR Electronics) ' OR an Associates Degree in Electronics (or related technical field); OR equivalent work experience & training.

 

Pay - $150-$200K annual DOE - Full Benefits
