ISO 16750-2

For EMC certification the ISO 16750-2 is used in conjunction with ISO 7637-2 transient generators,.

STANDARD OVERVIEW

This part of ISO 16750-2 requires electric and electronic systems/components in road vehicles to apply potential environmental stresses and specifies voltage disruptions and transients. The current edition of ISO 16750-2 saw updates to every test, aligning with UN ECE R10.

REQUIRED TESTS

  • Direct current supply voltage
  • Overvoltage
  • Superimposed alternating voltage
  • Slow decrease and increase of supply voltage
  • Discontinuities in supply voltage
  • Reversed voltage
  • Ground reference and supply offset
  • Open circuit tests
  • Short circuit protection
  • Withstand voltage
  • Insulation resistance
  • Electromagnetic compatibility

TEST ADDITIONS TO EDITION 5

  • introduction of use of operating mode for the electrical tests
  • introduction of concept with redundant supplies for relevant test cases
  • introduction of transient overvoltage test
  • introduction of micro interruption in supply voltage test

As well as a complete update of superimposed alternating voltage test (e.g. updated test method, extension of frequency range to 200 kHz, etc.)

TEST SETUP

ISO 16750-2 references EMC specifications but there is no defined test setup or environment as they aren't considered electromagnetic compatibility tests.

Performance measurements from the referenced EMC standards are not included in the scope of the ISO 16750 series.
