Overview

The SURGE-18μf capacitor matches impedance for IEC 61000-4-5 surge voltages up to max. 4400 V and AC voltages up to 250 VAC. For component or cable shielding testing, utilize the SURGE-18μf with the SURGE4-5 for reliable surge coupling impedances according to IEC / EN 61000-4-5. The high voltage output must be connected a 18 μF capacitor (SURGE-18μf) to have standardized pulses on the cable shield.

Important: We strongly recommend not to perform component test with a flying test setup. Please only under special test-cages with safety switches Due to the large amount of energy released, the components to be tested can be destroyed and possibly even explode. This is especially true for tests on capacitors and varistors. If the test hoods are provided with safety switch (s), they should be connected (linked) to the "safety" socket [34]. As soon as the switches are interrupted by opening the test hood, the high voltage circuit is switched off immediately. It is no longer possible to carry out a test.
